Dennis Tupicoff has been creating iconic, critically acclaimed animation here in Australia for nearly 50 years. Films such as “The Darra Dogs”, “His Mother’s Voice” and “Chainsaw” have done much to define the independent animation landscape of Australia. A new Dennis Tupicoff film is a big deal in our world and when his latest turned up right on the close of submissions we knew we would be opening MIAF 2023 with it.
“The Only Photograph Of Emily Dickinson: American Poet” opened the Australian Showcase and we kick off our week-long “Meet The Filmmaker” series by taking another look at the film and having Dennis sit down and talk us through its creation and production. This is a unique opportunity to get a look behind the curtain of one of Australia’s true masters of animation.
