Meet The Filmmaker #5: “Kyiv Cake” – The Inside Story
Direct from Estonian’s dependably brilliant Joonisfilm Studio comes “Kyiv Cake”; an exploration of certain world events through a lens that only animation – in fact, only Estonian animation – could ever hope to deliver. A rich and thought-provoking cocktail of observational insights viewed through a lightly contorted surrealist lens, “Kyiv Cake” places an animated prism over the madness of what we are seeing and challenges us to look harder and think differently. After a screening of “Kyiv Cake” – the only time it will screen in MIAF – we will be joined live on the line by the film’s maker Mykyta Lyskov, to discuss this fascinating, colourful and fluidly provocative film.
