The Long & Strange Of It All

The International Competition Programs are the backbone of the entire MIAF mission. Drawn from more than 2,000 submissions they showcase the best, most imaginative animating talent on the planet in a series of programs in which the only rule is diversity.

The unique properties of animation allow skilled and imaginative animators to take any given idea off into the realms of re-reality that no other artform has a hope of scaling. That’s the essential ingredient we look for in any film selected to screen in MIAF. But even within that universe containing these intrepid creators-of-the-impossible there are bold mavericks and creative jet pilots who turn up and turn it up past 11. And some of the best of them grant themselves some extra time to get the job. This program is a one-of-kind look at a selection of works from the edge of this solar system. Buckle up – it’s going to be an interesting ride.
