He has been a good friend to MIAF and to Australian animation, reaching out to us for assistance in identifying up and coming animators here to feature at HAS.\n\n\n\nHis passion for emerging Japanese animators and the work they create is boundless and makes his voice an invaluable one as we seek out new work being produced in Japan.\n\n\n\nNobuaki will travel to Melbourne for MIAF this year, bringing along program featuring work from the likes of Ryo Hirano, Kazuki Sekiguchi, and Isaku Kaneko, all of whom have been supported by a newly established program called NeW NeW. And, of course, he brings with him a wealth of knowledge of what is happening in the Japanese animation scene right now which we will be asking him to share.\n\n\n\nThis is a rare opportunity to talk to an internationally important animation curator, and at the same time get a peek into where contemporary Japanese animation is heading.\n\n\n\nKrasue – Ryo Hirano\n\n\n\nKrasueRyo HiranoJapan, 12’05, 2021Facing a bloody conflict with local gangs, a young Yakuza encounters a ghoulish ghost with a taste for his blood.\n\n\n\nSelf-Honest Me – Kazuki Sekiguchi\n\n\n\nSelf-Honest MeKazuki SekiguchiJapan, 4’55, 2017Not everybody sitting around the TV hated the film as much as our new friend.\n\n\n\nThe Balloon Catcher – Isaku Kaneko\n\n\n\nThe Balloon CatcherIsaku KanekoJapan, 6’10, 2020The police are keeping a close eye on the Axe Human coz he is scaring the balloon people living in the city.\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n↑ ( #top )\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis session is classified: Unclassified (M) Mature, not recommended for viewers under 15 years.\n\n\n\nPlease note that Backlot is NOT fully accessible.
