SUMMARY:Abstract Showcase [2023]
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS\nTickets are Sold Out\n\nThe International Competition Programs are the backbone of the entire MIAF mission. Drawn from more than 2,000 submissions they showcase the best, most imaginative animating talent on the planet in a series of programs in which the only rule is diversity.\nMIAF is one of the very few animation festivals in the world to devote an entire program to abstract and experimental animation. We do this because we believe that the tenets that underpin great abstract animation go to the very heart of what it is to create beautiful, frame by frame animated imagery; a form of animated artmaking with a history that reaches back to the earliest days of the animation.\nAlso – we do it because we love abstract animation!!\nCompostable Buildings – Paul Fletcher\nCompostable Buildings\nPaul Fletcher\nAustralia, 6’06, 2023\nHot Spots Wood-Book Study I – Iby-Jolande Varga\nHot Spots Wood-Book Study I\nIby-Jolande Varga\nAustria, 1’33, 2021\nEo De Me – Viktorie Stepanova\nEo De Me\nViktorie Stepanova\nCzech Republic, 5’22, 2022\nProgress – Saule Matvienko\nProgress\nSaule Matvienko\nRussia, 1’46, 2022\nRavines – Guillaume Pelletier-Auger\nRavines\nGuillaume Pelletier-Auger\nCanada, 4’43, 2019\nSolitude – Jean Detheux\nSolitude\nJean Detheux\nCanada, 4’48, 2021\nAbsttrArt 19 – Luis Carlos Rodríguez\nAbsttrArt 19\nLuis Carlos Rodríguez\nSpain, 2’55, 2021\nBeardiful Tone – Masashi Yamamoto\nBeardiful Tone\nMasashi Yamamoto\nUSA, 1’29, 2023\nCarreaux – Yik Sum Lai\nCarreaux\nYik Sum Lai\nHong Kong, 1’00, 2021\nThe Music That You Play – Nikolaus Jantsch\nThe Music That You Play\nNikolaus Jantsch\nAustria, 4’10, 2022\nString Theory – Simon Le Boggit\nString Theory\nSimon Le Boggit\nUK, 5’00, 2021\nThe Artist In The Machine – Claudia Larcher\nThe Artist In The Machine\nClaudia Larcher\nAustria, 3’00, 2022\n& More – Tsz-Wing Ho\n& More\nTsz-Wing Ho\nHong Kong, 3’11, 2022\nWhite Bat – Dirk de Bruyn\nWhite Bat\nDirk de Bruyn\nAustralia, 12’27, 2021\nTICKETS\nTickets are Sold Out\n\n\nThis session is classified: Unclassified (M) Mature, not recommended for viewers under 15 years.\nPlease note that Backlot is NOT fully accessible.
