MIAF has grown significantly as an annual event since its launch at the old Treasury Cinema in 2000. The festival has attracted increasing international respect and recognition while progressing the unique visions of talented animators and their teams worldwide. We currently receive close to an incredible 3,000 submissions from more than 40 countries and will screen over 400 films during eleven days – making it one of Melbourne’s largest screen culture events and one of the world’s largest festivals of its kind.
We unfortunately can’t provide a full archive online for you, but we have been able to keep live the websites from 2005 to give you an idea of previous festivals, or if you’re trying to track down a particular film or filmmaker.
This unique publication is absolutely chocoblock full of extended program notes (MIAF Director Malcolm Turner’s special stream of consciousness contribution), Q&A’s, articles, contact details for films in competition and a couple of extras… no other festival does a catalogue quite like us! And you can download pdfs of the whole thing right here.
